The big picture

Xie En has been betrayed by his mentor and wrongfully imprisoned. Returning as Wu Wei, he infiltrates Yongqiang Group to attack the business empire his betrayer values most. THE VIG turns that concealed identity into a live-action branching drama where cooperation is part of the disguise and every relationship might complicate the plan. Most people enter a new workplace hoping to make a good impression. Wu Wei has rather more ambitious ideas about the eventual farewell.

This is interactive fiction, with choices and quick-time events, rather than a corporate-management simulation. The company provides the setting for a filmed revenge story, not a balance sheet for you to optimise. That distinction is important if the business premise attracted you: you are steering a person with a dangerous purpose, and people insist on making those purposes emotionally inconvenient. Official story and format

Reasons to look closer

The full game contains seven complete chapters. The developer advertises nearly fifty endings, three romance storylines and estimated lengths of four to five hours for one playthrough or eight to ten for completion. Those are developer estimates and descriptions, not guaranteed timings or fifty wholly separate films. A large ending count is an invitation to explore alternatives, not a promise that every minute on the way will be unfamiliar. Official release announcement

More interesting is the way the objective can clash with attachment. Wu Wei returns for revenge, but the people he meets can become allies, complications or reasons to change direction. A strong initial purpose gives decisions something to push against. It is easy to announce that you will destroy an empire; it becomes less tidy when doing so involves people you have stopped treating as scenery.

That makes THE VIG attractive if you enjoy heightened melodrama and compromised choices. If you want restrained workplace realism, the opening betrayal and concealed identity are fairly clear signals that this employer will not be providing it. The company may have a normal-looking reception area, but the narrative did not arrive to discuss routine career development.

A cover identity needs cooperation

Infiltrating the organisation means acting helpfully towards people connected to the target. Outward behaviour and private intent are pulling in opposite directions, giving ordinary interactions a second meaning. That is a better use of a corporate setting than simply putting a villain in a large office and waiting for the protagonist to reach it.

Xiaoman, Yun'er and Guan Guan have intertwined roles within the revenge story. Their relationships are presented as possible alliances and changes of direction, rather than a separate romantic activity you complete after attending to the plot. The resulting tension concerns what you are willing to do to someone, and whether you can continue telling yourself they are only useful to the plan.

The drama asks you to embrace a protagonist who already has motives. You are not creating a blank character and choosing any life imaginable. The interesting freedom lies in how this particular return unfolds. If you enjoy steering someone through a situation that has already become spectacularly unwise, there is a clear reason to pay attention.

Seeing another branch can change what you understood

The developer's March 6 explanation says information in one route can clarify events in another, with some nodes depending on revisiting connected scenes. Repetition therefore has a narrative purpose: another version can alter your interpretation of a person or event rather than merely supply another ending to collect. Branching and replay explanation

The same message acknowledged complaints about replaying footage and the lack of a complete one-click skip for previously seen material at that point. Later patches fixed specific ending conditions, inaccessible nodes and subtitle problems. Those fixes should not be mistaken for proof of an entirely replaced replay system, nor does the launch-era complaint establish that every detail remains unchanged today.

The practical warning is to want the replaying itself. Branching fiction can ask you to revisit familiar situations while waiting for the next divergence. If you only want the satisfaction of seeing every ending ticked off, repeated footage may become a substantial cost. Revenge already takes patience; trying every available version can ask for another helping.

Buy the story, not a series of ending tickets

The launch offer was explicitly a complete story without paid true-ending unlocks or character-route DLC. That matters when alternative outcomes are central to the design. The purchase includes the routes rather than putting another payment request between the mystery and the answer you wanted to see.

The Windows release occurred on March 5, 2026, at 21:00 Eastern Time, equivalent to March 6 at 02:00 UTC or 10:00 UTC+8. Those dates describe one worldwide launch. The earlier February content was a demo, not commercial Early Access. Chinese audio is accompanied by English interface text and subtitles; an English dub is not included in that language claim.

Bloody violence, sexual references and alcohol abuse are part of the content warning. The occasional absurdity of the premise does not make this a harmless office comedy. Choose THE VIG for live-action intrigue, emotional complications and the chance to revisit a story from another angle. Wu Wei has a plan for his new identity. Your choices determine how much of that plan survives meeting everyone else.
